Photo a Day — Day 206
Regular viewers of my photoblog know that I live with my fiancee in Belmont, a part of Charlottesville that I rarely visited when I used to live here in Cville over a decade ago. One of my favorite things about this part of town is the uneven nature of it. There are hipster joints and upscale restaurants standing right next to run-down houses and abandoned gas stations. A case in point is the restaurant Mas, which has a slick decor and is the sort of place where a decent percentage of those present seem to be at least as interested in checking out the other patrons and being checked out by them as they are in the food. But if you walk down the sidewalk a few steps, you come across what looks to be another entrance to the place, which looks as urban and gritty as something you might find in a real city. And I like that.
