Photo of the Day — Day 210
S. and I have been busy planning our upcoming nuptials — OK, S. has been busy doing it, and I have offered some help here and there — and we’re starting to pull it all together. We have a great caterer and have settled on a menu, S. found her dress way back at Thanksgiving, the venue has been reserved, and so on. The last major issue to be resolved is the cake. We’ve tried a couple of places around town, had cake consultations, tried out sample cakes, and we have been somewhat disappointed at every turn.
Enter Cappellino’s (http://www.cappellinoscrazycakes.com/), a bakery located on one of the side streets on the Downtown Mall. They make all sorts of tasty treats, but they seem to specialize in cupcakes. We had a tasting of their wares, and I am pleased to say that the search is over. We were happy with everything: the cupcakes were tasty and nicely decorated, and the staff was friendly, professional, and obviously pay close attention to the details. In other words, we will be serving up some fine cupcakes at our wedding reception, and they will be yummy!
One of the most impressive things, to my mind, was that we pulled them out of the case — these weren’t special cupcakes made for us to sample with the hope of bringing in a large order, they were the same cupcakes that they make day in, day out, and that any random customer might buy. I took photos of a few of the cupcakes we tried: Ruby’s Pick (red velvet cake with sweet cream cheese icing), Double Chocolate (chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing), a carrot cake with cream cheese icing, and a pound cake with buttercream icing and coconut.
