Photo of the Day — Day 225
An acquaintance of mine took a look at the photoblog the other day, and after looking through some of my recent posts, she asked if I ever took photos of people. I was kind of surprised by this, but when I went back and considered what I’ve been posting lately, I saw that she was right. I’ve been taking a lot more thing photos than people photos for a while now.
I like taking photos of people, but these days I’ve just been too busy to have many opportunities; considering that I’ve packed and moved in with my fiancee, things have been extraordinarily busy at work, and I’ve added both a commute and an early morning walk to my daily schedule, it’s not surprising that photography has taken a back seat to the rest of my life for now. Also, buildings are always around to be photographed, whereas you may not have the chance to interact as much with people, or you may interact with friends whose photos you’ve already managed to take and might not be as fond of being photographed as you are of photographing them.
Part of the challenge of a 365 project is precisely that you have to have a photo every day, not necessarily the photo you’d like to make, and maybe not even one you’re happy with, but one that you can tolerate sharing with others. I don’t dislike today’s photos of the day, by any means, but I do hope that I’ll have more opportunities to mix in some people photos with all of the thing photos that I’ve been making lately. And maybe I’ll soon be able to devote a little more time to my photography, in general, since my creative side has been dying on the vine a bit.
