Photo of the Day — Day 234
As regular viewers of my photoblog now, I work in a community mental health clinic, a job which I love. There are a lot of things that I like about my job, and one of the best things about where I work is the people who work at the clinic with me. I think that the award for hardest job in the clinic must go to the folks who work at the front desk. They are on the front line, as it were, and they interact with every single client who passes through our doors, ranging from individuals who are actively psychotic to the people who are court-ordered for treatment to the more easy-going clients who are doing pretty well. And as difficult as it is to relate to some of the more troubled clients, I’d hazard a guess that working with some of my colleagues can be equally challenging, for other reasons. Most of the staff is overworked, and in such a high-pressure workplace, I have no doubt that folks can sometimes be testy or short-tempered or thoughtless. But the front desk workers seem pretty good at taking it all in stride, and I very much appreciate their work.
